It’s reported that Google's Android event scheduled
for Monday in New York City has been cancelled because of Hurricane Sandy.
Here is the Google official statement. “We
are canceling our Monday morning event in New York due to Hurricane Sandy. We
will let you know our plans as soon as we know more”.
On Friday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo declared
a state of emergency in response to the incoming storm, and Google's event was planned
to take place on a waterfront pier, which is now in an evacuation zone. If you
are waiting for the event, you must be disappointed. But don’t worry. Microsoft's
Windows Phone 8 launch in San Francisco will make it up since San Francisco should
be able to avoid Sandy's attack. This is the second time Google has put off a
launch event in recent years— last year it changed its Ice Cream Sandwich event
after the death of Steve Jobs. We'll keep you updated on Google's plans to
reschedule.
