Samsung Officially Released the Galaxy S III Mini in Germany

Samsung launched Galaxy S III Mini in Germany yesterday as expected. It seems that the specs are as same as the speculation, 4.0-nch Super AMOLED with 800 x 480 pixels resolution display, a dual-core 1GHz processor, 5 megapixel rear facing camera, 1GB RAM, 1,500 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0, supporting NFC. It’s just a mid-range smartphone like many others that Samsung has released in the past.

However, from the name we can see that Galaxy S III mini and Galaxy S III may have things in common. Let’s have a comparison.

First, in term of the camera, Galaxy S III mini camera has been downgraded to five megapixels from eight megapixels on the Galaxy S III, while the front-facing camera now only supports VGA resolution. Another difference is that Galaxy S III mini lacks of LTE connectivity onboard. The phone's most catching feature is probably the fact that it comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, though that should be par for the course at this point. All in all, it seems that Galaxy S III mini is a relative to the Galaxy S III in name and appearance only.

Yesterday latest news revealed that JK Shin, head of Samsung Mobile Communications, confirmed that his company will be announcing a four-inch version of the Galaxy S III on October 11^th, namely today, in Germany.

"We'll be launching a 4-inch Galaxy S III on the 11th in Germany," Shin said. "There's a lot of demand for a 4-inch screen device in Europe. Some call it an entry-level device, but we call it 'mini’.”
